Austin Chamber Opens Nominations for 2023 Austin Gives Awards

The Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce has announced that nominations for the 2023 Austin Gives Awards are being accepted through June 2, 2023.

Austin Gives is a program that recognizes corporate philanthropy by encouraging companies across the Austin region that donate 1% or more of their pre-tax earnings to the local community. This includes financial contributions, the donation of products/services and volunteer hours.

The Austin Gives Awards is a chance to recognize some businesses for the good they are doing in the community.

“The Austin Gives Awards are a great opportunity to acknowledge businesses that are making a difference in Austin,” said Bobby Jenkins, Chair of Austin Gives and Owner of ABC Home and Commercial Services. "I believe deeply that the business community can impact some of Central Texas' most pressing issues by giving back and supporting charitable causes. The Austin Gives Awards are a great opportunity to highlight and celebrate generous businesses. I encourage businesses of all sizes to join the Austin Gives movement and nominate themselves for an award."

Nominations for Austin Gives awards are being accepted in three categories, with awards given based on company size. The three categories are:

  1. Generous Business Awards: Companies in any industry with fully-developed community philanthropy programs are eligible to apply. Applications should note all forms of philanthropy, including employee engagement, donation of products and services, intellectual capital, and monetary support of non-profit and community organizations.
  2. Employee Engagement: Companies with established programs that promote and support employee volunteer efforts are eligible to apply. Program enrollment and employee participation statistics are encouraged.
  3. Individual Volunteer of the Year: This award is given to an individual who leads by example, demonstrating a genuine desire to forge the next generation of volunteer leaders through their own generosity, community service, coaching, and collaboration.

Community leaders will judge nominees, and the businesses making the most significant impact in our community will be recognized at the Austin Gives awards in August.

“The Austin Chamber wants to encourage philanthropy because the business community can be a force for good in Austin,” said Bethany Leffingwell, Senior Advisor for Social Impact for the Austin Chamber of Commerce. “Giving back is not just good for the community; it is also good for businesses. Purpose-driven companies enjoy increased customer loyalty, attract top-tier employees, and foster a positive work environment. If your company makes generosity a part of your business model, we believe you deserve to be recognized and celebrated for your efforts.”
