Greater Austin Chamber Board issues resolution to support pay and benefits for Austin Police Department

Today, the Austin Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors approved a resolution that advocates for the passage of Ordinance No. 20230223-061, which extends certain pay and benefits for Austin Police Department officers, increased field training pay, maintained base pay and continued cadet incentive programs.

Richard Rhodes named Austinite of the Year by Austin Chamber

The Austin Chamber has named Richard Rhodes, Ph.D., former chancellor of Austin Community College District—and longest-serving chancellor in the college’s 50-year history—as the 2023 Austinite of the Year. This award represents the highest honor the Chamber offers on an annual basis. Rhodes will be honored at the Austin’s Chamber of Commerce’s 146thannual meeting, Cheers to the Year, on Feb. 13, 2024.

Austin Chamber confirms 2024 board chair and announces board chair elect

The Austin Chamber has selected its 2024-2025 board leadership. Rudy Garza, president and CEO of GarzaEMC, will be the 2024 board chair and Mark Ramseur, managing principal of Pape-Dawson Engineers, will be the 2025 board chair and serve as chair elect in 2024. Their terms are set to begin on Jan. 1, 2024.
