Eleven and a half years ago, founders Charlie Brown and Ben Steckbeck set out to create a full-service marketing and advertising agency that captures the best of Austin. They've built mixtape marketing around personalized messaging for each client - much like its namesake.
Recently, we asked cofounder Charlie Brown about what makes mixtape marketing so unique, how they've handled 2020, and any exciting new projects that are in the works.
Charlie strongly believes that mixtape's approach and approachability set the agency apart within their industry. He says,
“We’re ‘old school’ and still prefer face-to-face meetings and handshakes over emails and conference calls. We genuinely like investing in and helping people, especially locals (we’ve been part of the Austin community since the late 90s), whether they ultimately become clients or not.”
As a team, their core belief is that much like a good mixtape, a marketing mix should create an impact greater than the sum of its parts.
Prior to 2020, mixtape focused on personal relationships and in-person meetings. Although the team has had to pivot to Zoom, they're excited to get back to in-person meetings in the future.
Despite this change, Clutch recognized mixtape as one of the top B2B service providers in Texas.
