Census Data Shows Austin is Now the 10th Largest City in the Country

The latest census data has unveiled remarkable achievements for Austin and Central Texas, with Austin emerging as the 10th largest city in the country and three of the top four fastest-growing cities in the nation located in the region. Since the 2020 Census, Austin has grown its population by 12,547 residents, at a rate of 1.3%. Austin is now the 10th largest U.S. city, surpassing San Jose, CA, with an estimated population of 974,447.

The report is an annual ranking that evaluates metropolitan areas across the country based on their economic performance, demographics, and innovation.

City of Austin Accepting Applications for the Small Business Resiliency Program

The City of Austin Economic Development Department invites Austin business owners to apply for the Small Business Resiliency Program. This intensive 12-week training program is designed to support small business owners that were operating successfully prior to the pandemic in Austin’s highly impacted industries. The Small Business Resiliency Program offers coaching, access to professional experts, peer support, resiliency planning, and additional resources.

City of Austin Celebrates Small Business Week

The City of Austin Economic Development Department will host a series of virtual and in-person sessions to help Austin’s small businesses, creatives, cooperatives, and non-profits during Austin Small Business Week, May 1-5. Participants will have access to a variety of educational topics including small business management, marketing, finance, legal considerations, and more. All classes and events are open to the public at no-cost.
