Today, March 28, 2022, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines launched new non-stop service between Austin–Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) and Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS). The route will operate three times weekly on Monday, Thursday, and Saturday. Austin is their 12th U.S. destination, their highest number ever, and its second Texas destination after Houston, which KLM has served for over half a century. KLM is the world’s oldest airline operating under its original name. It has become a global travel brand operating in 167 destinations on five continents that is now part of the Air France KLM Group. Alongside Air France and joint venture partners Delta Air Lines and Virgin Atlantic, KLM offers business and leisure travelers access to a vast network of destinations worldwide with aligned benefits and coordinated schedules.

As the first-ever scheduled nonstop service between Central Texas and the Netherlands, the route will benefit individuals and businesses on both sides of the Atlantic. The new route supports the operations of Dutch and American corporations, thriving start-up cultures, and unique cultural landscapes shared by both. In addition, Austinites and those from the surrounding region can conveniently connect to over 60 destinations across Europe, Africa, the Middle East and India via Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. The award-winning airport is among Europe's most popular due to its single terminal design and many shops and services. Whether traveling for family, leisure, or business, the world just got closer to the heart of Texas.

Flights from Austin are operated by a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner featuring two cabins, individual HD entertainment, and onboard Wi-Fi. World Business Class passengers will be pampered by flat-bed seats that recline 180° with direct aisle access, larger storage, HD screens, and SkyPriority check-in and boarding. Economy passengers enjoy in-seat power, hot meals, and complimentary wine, beer, or spirits. There are options to select seats with extra legroom or at the front of the cabin for an additional fee. The state-of-the-art aircraft incorporates many innovations to enhance passenger well-being and sustainability, including:

  • 30% larger windows
  • Ambient LED mood lighting
