November Oracle Chooses Austin to Create 200 Jobs

Redwood City, California-based Oracle America, Inc., will expand its presence in Austin and Williamson County with increased sales and marketing functions to serve the Company’s growing client base. The project will add 200 employees to Oracle’s existing Austin workforce and will be housed in a new 50,000-square-foot office space a total capital investment of approximately $5.4 million.

September British Airways Announces Premiere London-Austin Nonstop Flight

British Airways has announced new, nonstop service between London and Austin beginning March 3, 2014. The flight will connect Heathrow and Austin-Bergstrom International Airport and marks the first regular transatlantic air service for the city of Austin. Linking London and Austin nonstop is expected to further strengthen the economic position of Austin and its airport.

August GateHouse Media to Establish New "Center for News and Design" in Austin

GateHouse Media, a leading multi-media company providing news and information to local communities, will establish a new “Center for News and Design” in Austin, Texas. The facility will open later this Fall and will offer a range of services to GateHouse Media newspapers, and, in addition, be in a position to market these services to a wide range of other US-based media entities. The new facility will create approximately 200 jobs by the end of 2014. GateHouse Media owns and operates 431 newspapers and 405 related websites.

March R2Sonic Establishes Global Headquarters in Austin

R2Sonic LLC, a leading sonar technology company, is establishing new company headquarters in Austin, Texas. In Austin, R2Sonic will occupy an advanced high technology manufacturing facility in Oak Hill, which triples the square-footage footprint of their former facility in Santa Barbara, California. The new manufacturing facility and corporate offices will allow R2Sonic to continue to lead sonar technology innovation, meet growing product demand and provide the industry's best customer service. According to President Jens R. Steenstrup, Austin is the ideal location for tapping into the dynamic high technology community and the world-class sonar research center at the Applied Research Labs at the University of Texas.

January Crytek Arrives in America with New Studio in Austin

Game developer and publisher Crytek GmbH has selected Austin, Texas for the company’s first US-based studio. Crytek is an independent company at the forefront of the interactive entertainment industry, and is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of gaming by creating standout experiences. The company’s headquarters are in Frankfurt am Main (Germany). The company’s multi-award winning games include Far Cry, Crysis, Crysis Warhead, Crysis 2 and Warface. Cryteck has leased 8,217 square feet at Great Hills Corporate Center in northwest Austin and initial employment of 35 is expected to grow soon to 80.
