Our priorities

We work together with a bipartisan group of elected officials and policymakers to ensure our entire state continues to plan for growth, improve infrastructure, and reform property taxes and school finance.


  • Economic development

    We advocate for economic development tools that are crucial to job creation.

  • Investment capital & innovation

    We support partnerships between private industry and academia and the Governor’s University Research Initiative.

  • Transportation

    We advocate for project delivery and funding that supports urban congestion relief and enables innovative transportation technologies.

  • K-12

    We support policies that educate and prepare each generation for college, a career, or the military, that will help every Texan pay their bills and provide for their families.

  • Higher education & talent

    We support continuing TEXAS Grant scholarships, classifying computer science courses as CTE, and increasing opportunities for students to pursue dual-credit and P-TECH course offerings.

  • Regulatory environment

    We support a consistent regulatory environment for municipal governments and promote flexible employer hiring practices.


  • State legislative agenda

    The Austin Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors unanimously approved recommendations for the 86th legislative session designed to ensure Texas remains competitive.

Join the Government Relations Council

The Government Relations Council is comprised of local business leaders who inform the Chamber's stances on policy issues. This committee meets monthly.
