Austin Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce a new partnership with AISD and Travis County that will expand and enrich internship experiences for local high school students. The 7-week program, running from June 10th to July 26th, will provide students with work experience, skills development, and community engagement. Students will be paid $13 an hour and will work 20 hours a week at their assigned location. The Chamber will be inviting local area businesses to host interns for this 7-week program, where interns can assist with various tasks, freeing up time for full-time employees to focus on higher-level projects, while learning about the industry.

“One of our key priorities is Workforce Development and Education. We’re excited to partner with AISD and Travis County to provide incredible opportunities for young people in our community to get first-hand experience working in various industries through the Summer Internship Program,” said Rudy Garza, Austin Chamber of Commerce’s Board Chair. “As demonstrated throughout the year, our business community is very supportive of multiple non-profit and service organizations, and providing positions within their companies for our students is another way our members continue to give back.”

Local businesses who are interested in getting involved with this program and hosting interns this summer can follow these simple steps:

1. Complete this Summer Intern Interest Form before May 3, 2024.

2. After submitting, a staff member will contact your organization to collect more information.

3. From there, you will be put in touch with a program coordinator and be matched with interns.

4. All participating organizations will have to attend an employer orientation in late May.
