Austin Habitat for Humanity opened its third ReStore on November 4 alongside staff, board members, an Austin Habitat homeowner, corporate donors, and many eager shoppers. Grand opening attendees enjoyed 10% off purchases, prizes, giveaways, a DIY craft, and free food from Chi’Lantro BBQ.

Located at the intersection of North Highway 183 and Lake Creek Parkway, this location will serve the rapidly growing Northwest Austin area. This third ReStore will also join the ranks of existing Austin Habitat for Humanity ReStores in South Austin and San Marcos.

Austin Habitat for Humanity ReStores are nonprofit discount home improvement stores and donation centers. Every purchase and donation aids Austin Habitat for Humanity’s mission to build homes, communities, and hope. Austin’s growth has sparked an affordable housing crisis. To tackle this challenge, the nonprofit organization is poised to build and partner on 500 more homes in the next five years, making ReStore’s work even more critical.

Prior to relocating to the corner of Ben White and South First Street, Austin Habitat for Humanity’s original ReStore opened in East Austin in 1992 as the first ReStore in the nation. Since then, Austin Habitat ReStores have grown to three locations, diverted more than 37.5 million pounds from the landfill, and helped build hundreds of homes for families in need in Central Texas.

“The opening of this new Austin Habitat ReStore marks the latest step in our efforts to provide safe, decent, and affordable housing in the Greater Austin area,” said Phyllis Snodgrass, CEO. “Shoppers can find unique and high-quality items such as furniture, appliances, flooring, doors, and cabinets every day. Inventory changes frequently, making each visit a new adventure. We wish to thank our donors, supporters, shoppers, and the entire Austin community for helping to make this new ReStore location a huge success.”

Austin Habitat ReStores rely on generous donations of new and gently used household items, building supplies, furniture, and more to create homeownership opportunities. To arrange a donation pickup or find your nearest drop-off location, please visit //austinhabitat.org/restore/donate.
