Central Texas plays an increasing role in the overall health and prosperity of the Texas economy. In 2015, Central Texas accounted for 7.9% of the state’s private sector jobs; we accounted for 12.1% of all jobs added statewide between 2003 and 2015. Over that same period, Central Texas private sector job growth has been 53.4% compared to 29.3% statewide. Over the next 10 years, Central Texas is projected to gain 33.0% in population, compared to statewide growth of only 21.7%.
