Austin Chamber honors businesses for education excellence

Winners will be recognized on Nov. 14 at State of Education event

AUSTIN, Texas—The Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce today announced recipients of its Business Champions in Education awards. The award winners will be recognized on Nov. 14 at the State of Education at the Hilton Austin.

Education Business Champions were identified by regional chambers of commerce. The awards are designed to recognize businesses' significant contributions to improve K-12 education and college/career opportunities and workforce readiness for our community.

Education Business Champions

Academic Advancement and Student Support
The business helps improve academic growth, student outcomes, and directly supports student learning for K12. Activities may include subject area tutoring/enrichment across English, math, sciences/social science, arts, etc., college readiness/preparation and tutoring for college entrance assessments (ACT/SAT/TSI), volunteers supporting literacy acquisition & programs, and other academic support.

Award winners: S.P.A.R.K., A+ Federal Credit Union, Broadway Bank, American Constructors, Benchmark Bank

College and Career Mentoring/Experience
The business helps improve college access and develop student interest/preparation for college and careers. Activities may include scholarship & financial aid support (FAFSA Saturdays volunteers, scholarship providers, financial literacy), computer science, and STEM/STEAM programs.

Workforce Readiness
The business helps students prepare for the workforce. Activities may include apprentice programs, student/career speaking, mentoring, internships, skilled-trade programs, and teacher externships.

The State of Education event will feature discussions about the future of education in Central Texas and how our region can upskill local talent.
