Travel by train in Europe is very popular. Almost every major and mid-sized city is connected by trains. If you love going to the spa and want to have a vacation all about relaxation, you might want to visit spa towns throughout Europe that are interconnected by trains. As part of the experience some people take a night train to sleep while they travel, and have their private bed compartment.
As mentioned last Thursday, some advantages of traveling by train in Europe when compared to flying are: faster arrival to a destination, comfort, and more economical than flight tickets. If you book the high-speed train tickets well in advance, you get lower prices.
When taking the train there are usually no fees for large luggage, and you don’t have to worry about liquid and electronics restrictions like at airports.
Another benefit of taking trains in Europe is that you enjoy the views of the different landscapes. You can see the city center in one country, the country side, may be lakes or the Mediterranean Sea, and then different scenery at the arrival country. It is a great experience.
How about the environment? Well trains are more eco-friendly than planes. Trains produce a very minimal amount of greenhouse gases (carbon dioxide and methane) when compared to airplanes.
One extra benefit when vacationing in Europe by train is that if you have to change trains in one city and have 2 or 3 hours before boarding the next train, you can walk out of the station and explore the city and taste the typical food. The train station is at the center of the city, and usually the old town (touristic area) is within walking distance. You can leave your luggage at a locker in the train station (most train stations have luggage lockers), and enjoy touring.
