Texas Mutual Insurance Company donated $100,000 to 6 Texas organizations for winter storm relief efforts
Helping Texans in the aftermath of the winter storm
We know many in Texas are still facing significant challenges from the winter storm. And while we don’t yet know the extent of the damage to our state, Texans have a history of showing up for their neighbors. Last week, we donated $100,000 to six organizations working to provide Texans with basic needs like food, water and shelter.
Austin Area Urban League Emergency Relief
Austin Disaster Relief Network
Coalition for the Homeless in Houston
Before and during the winter storm, the Coalition for the Homeless in Houston advocated for people experiencing homelessness to ensure their needs were met in response to this emergency. Their teams helped to transport people without shelter to warming centers.
The Salvation Army of North Texas, which serves Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis and Tarrant counties, activated all four of its shelters and provided aid to nine inclement weather shelters. Going forward, the organization will help people who are displaced or are needing assistance because of burst pipes.
In Lubbock, the Salvation Army deployed its Cold Patrol unit to monitor the community and bring critical resources to people through their mobile feeding unit and van stocked with items like gloves, scarves and blankets.
All of these organizations were on the frontlines serving Texans during the winter storm, and will continue to serve our communities as we recover. If you are looking for ways to give to those who need support, we encourage you to consider these organizations.
While the storms are behind us, many communities are under boil water notices and just getting started assessing damage. Find resources on those topics and on taking care of your well-being during this challenging time.
