Texas Mutual and Primrose School of Austin at Mueller partner to expand early childhood education access

AUSTIN, Texas—Texas Mutual Insurance Company, the state’s leading provider of workers’ compensation insurance, and Primrose School of Austin at Mueller today announced a partnership to enhance access to early childhood education for working families in Austin. The partnership will include the construction of an expanded early childhood education space within Texas Mutual’s corporate building and child care scholarships for low-income families.

“Access to high-quality early childhood education is a fundamental right that all families should have available within reach,” said Jeanette Ward, president and CEO of Texas Mutual. “Children in Austin should enter school with the foundational knowledge and skills to be curious, confident and successful learners. Our hope at Texas Mutual is to make this possible, one family at a time, through partnerships like this one with Primrose School of Austin at Mueller.”

Texas Mutual has donated approximately 5,000 square feet within the first floor of their corporate building in Mueller to Primrose, allowing the school to expand its existing Mueller location. The expanded space will add 12 new classrooms, enabling the school to serve nearly 300 students.

“We are so grateful for Texas Mutual and their commitment to the accessibility of early childhood education,” said Christy Black, franchise owner of Primrose School of Austin at Mueller. “We are excited to help provide even more children with the right foundation for future learning. Through this partnership, we want to be a model for other local organizations to provide accessible, quality child care.”

As part of the partnership with Texas Mutual, the school is offering subsidized tuition for 20 students, beginning in 2024, with an agreement to increase the number of students each year. Families will need to apply for subsidized tuition offered through the state program and will be required to meet certain income criteria to qualify.

“Through investments in high-quality child care for our young leaders of tomorrow, Texas Mutual and Primrose School of Austin at Mueller are demonstrating their dedication to the long-term health of our community,” said Council Member Vanessa Fuentes, District 2, City of Austin. “By expanding Austinites’ access to early childhood education, this partnership will assist in closing the gap between our working families and inclusive affordable child care in Austin.”
