This is the fourth consecutive year for St. David’s Rehabilitation Hospital to receive this recognition and the second year for St. David’s Surgical Hospital to be recognized.

“Earning this prestigious national recognition is a testament to the dedication of the physicians, nurses and staff at St. David’s Rehabilitation Hospital who work tirelessly to deliver the highest-quality and most comprehensive care every day,” Todd Steward, chief executive officer of St. David’s Medical Center, said. “We are proud to serve the Central Texas community by providing advanced care across a wide range of complex conditions, from traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries to orthopedic and neurological conditions.”

Newsweekpartnered with statistics portal and industry ranking provider Statista to identify hospitals that provide the highest-quality inpatient rehabilitation services. There were 320 inpatient physical rehabilitation centers in the country that made the list of America’s Best Physical Rehabilitation Centers 2025, including 38 in Texas.

“Being named among the best in the nation reflects the outstanding collaboration between our surgical and rehabilitation teams,” Jeremy Barclay, chief executive officer of St. David’s North Austin Medical Center, said. “At St. David’s Surgical Hospital, our clinicians and care teams deliver specialized, patient-focused care in a setting designed to promote healing and recovery. We are proud to see their work recognized on this national stage.”

The ranking is based on four data sources: Results from a nationwide online survey of experts with knowledge about physical rehabilitation centers; data on physical rehabilitation centers provided by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and the Model Systems Knowledge Translation Center (MSKTC); results from the U.S. Centers for Medicaid and Medicaid Services; and reviews from Google.
