St. David’s HealthCare facilities receive national recognition for excellence in maternity care
St. David’s Medical Center and St. David’s North Austin Medical Center
named to America’s Best Maternity Hospitals 2023 by Newsweek
AUSTIN, Texas—Two St. David’s HealthCare facilities—St. David’s Medical Center and St. David’s North Austin Medical Center—were recently recognized in Newsweek’s list of America’s Best Maternity Hospitals 2023. These facilities are the only hospitals in Austin to earn this distinction.
St. David’s Medical Center and St. David’s North Austin Medical Center—which includes St. David’s Women’s Center of Texas—are designated by the state as Level IV maternal facilities, providing the highest possible comprehensive care for women and their babies. Together, more than 13,000 babies are born each year in these hospitals.

Newsweek partnered with global market research and consumer data firm Statista for the second consecutive year to award hospitals that provide the highest quality maternity care from pregnancy to birth and through postpartum. There were 384 hospitals in the country that made the list, including 27 in Texas.
The evaluation was based on three data sources: results from a nationwide online survey completed by more than 10,000 hospital managers and medical professionals with knowledge about maternity processes; results from patient experience surveys, including responsiveness and communication by medical staff; and key hospital performance data from The Joint Commission and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

Since the inception of St. David’s HealthCare in 1996, more than $864 million has been given back to the community to improve the health and healthcare of Central Texans.
