Samaritan Center Holds 21st Annual Golf Tournament to Raise Funds for Mental Health in Central Texas

Austin, Texas – On Monday and Tuesday, November 9 and 10, the Omni Barton Creek Country Club, 8212 Barton Club Dr, Austin, TX 78735, will host the Samaritan Center’s 21st Annual Samaritan Cup Golf Classic beginning at 8:00 a.m. each day to raise much needed funds for those who cannot afford mental healthcare in Central Texas. The event is being presented by Metropolitan Partners Group and additionally sponsored by Albatross Sponsors A-A-A Storage and Whorton Insurance, and Eagle Sponsors Weinheimer Wealth Management/Matt MacWilliams, Frost, PCSI, University Federal Credit Union, Lynn and Michael Davidson, Cynthia Wilson in memory of Scott Wilson, Janice Kolbe, and Don Ames. Golfers can register in two categories, the men’s/coed division or the women’s division.

The event, scheduled for the week of Veterans Day, plays host to several local veterans, who will golf in the tournament as guests of sponsors.

The University of Texas at Austin Men’s Golf Team Coach, John Fields, is scheduled to speak at the event’s virtual awards ceremony to be held on Veterans Day, Wednesday, November 11 at 4:30 p.m. Awards, including the Don Ames Spirit Award, and prizes will also be given out at the virtual awards ceremony.

Tickets and sponsorships for the Samaritan Cup Golf Classic are available at SamaritanGolf.com.

Because of COVID-19, instead of a traditional shotgun start, golfers will sign up for a safe and socially distanced tee time on one of the two days. In this unique tournament, teams will register and play on either November 9 or 10. During both days, there will be contests throughout the course. Players can win a Rolex watch, courtesy of Korman Fine Jewelry, if they make a hole in one.

Proceeds benefit the Samaritan Center’s mental health programs for children, families, and veterans. They provide professional counseling, integrative medicine, peer support, and wellness education that are accessible and affordable for all. Their Hope for Heroes program serves first responders, current service members, veterans and military families facing service-related trauma and stress.

Samaritan Center’s philosophy is based on a holistic belief that there is a close relationship between the mind, body, spirit and community. This philosophy is the foundation of their multidisciplinary team approach to mental health.
