Downtown Austin Alliance appoints marketing and communications executive


AUSTIN, Texas –The Downtown Austin Alliance (Downtown Alliance) welcomes Pamela Power as the new vice president of marketing and communications. Power oversees the organization's communication, research and policy-based messaging, as well as marketing and branding.

“The Downtown Alliance has the best of the best with Pam Power as the new vice president of marketing and communications,” Dewitt Peart, president and CEO of the Downtown Austin Alliance, said. “Not only does Pam have more than 30 years of experience in Austin’s marketing and media industries, but she has also served as the Downtown Alliance board chair. Her passion for maintaining and enriching the vitality of downtown will be instrumental in driving the Downtown Austin Vision.”

Throughout its 26 years, the Downtown Alliance’s efforts to preserve and enhance downtown Austin has been demonstrated in a variety of ways. Its special projects, daily programs and collaborations enable the organization to bolster the positives downtown, change what doesn’t work, as well as serve downtown Austin’s residents, employees and visitors.

The Downtown Alliance also provides direct services to downtown, advocates for and invests in other organizations’ efforts, creates activations that bring Austin’s public spaces alive and provides critical research used in planning and development.

“I’m honored for this opportunity with the Downtown Alliance,” Power said. “I’ve seen firsthand the important work the group does to truly make downtown Austin one of the best urban cores in America, as well as being the cultural and historical center of our city.”

Power leads the creative team to increase brand strategy with a commitment to drive positive change in downtown Austin, as well as increase the visibility of the organization’s mission, vision and goals. She also leads the organization’s brand development for the Downtown Alliance family of brands, including the Downtown Austin Alliance Foundation and Republic Square, and works with executive and strategy teams to enhance internal and external communication.

Most recently, Power served as the local sales manager in Austin for Nexstar Media Group, which includes KXAN-TV (NBC) and KNVA-TV (The CW), among others. Previously, Power was general manager at Community Impact Newspaper. She also served as vice president and general manager at Time Warner Cable Media and has worked at the Art Institute Austin, LIN Media and News Corp.

Throughout her career, Power has successfully developed and strengthened brands, created and executed communication strategies, built strong business and community relationships and helped businesses grow.

Power enjoys volunteering for organizations and efforts focused on improving the urban environment, including arts, mobility, parks and place-making. She also serves on the boards of Austin B-Cycle, Downtown Austin Neighborhood Association, Movability Austin, Urban Land Institute (ULI) and more.
