Central Texas nonprofits meeting critical Coronavirus needs get boost from Bank of America
Area nonprofits are experiencing greater demand to meet the needs of low-income and vulnerable Central Texans. With a new level of strain on resources, community organizations that provide critical services are calling on the private sector to dig deeper and give more.
Bank of America recently committed $100 million to support local communities impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. Of that, the bank is directing $1 million across 18 Central Texas organizations that are increasing medical response capacity, addressing food insecurity, increasing access to learning as a result of school closures and providing help to our most vulnerable residents.
The bank will also continue to support youth employment through its Student Leaders and Summer Jobs programs, and will continue funding for students through St. Edwards, Huston-Tillotson, American Youthworks, Capital Idea, Breakthrough, College Forward, Con Mi Madre, Catch the Next and E3.
Bank of America Austin Market President Nikki Graham said, “Now, more than ever, companies and individuals must seek ways to support our neighbors who are struggling as a result of this pandemic. We will get through it – together.”
Central Texas organizations receiving Bank of America emergency assistance include:
- Central Texas Food Bank
- Ascension Seton
- Dell Medical School at the University of Texas at Austin
- PeopleFund
- Foundation Communities
- Communities in Schools
- Meals on Wheels
- Any Baby Can
Each of these organizations stands ready to support those in need.
