SAN ANTONIO – January 28, 2021 – Broadway Bank announces the hire of Blake Absher, Executive Vice President and Austin Market Executive, to spearhead strategic growth in Central Texas. The bank currently has seven locations in Austin and the surrounding area, and it’s positioned to expand services and hire more talent in 2021 to further deliver a best-in-class banking experience.

“We’re excited for our expanded plans in Austin and thrilled to have Blake Absher lead our growth,” said David Bohne, Broadway Bank CEO. “Austinites have truly connected with Broadway, and with Blake’s leadership, market experience, and wealth of knowledge in the financial industry, we’re ready to take the next steps. We look forward to sharing additional news with our customers and the business community soon.”

Broadway Bank successfully entered the Austin market in 2012, delivering its unique approach to modern banking, locally sourced and personally delivered. Since then, the bank has developed a team of local bankers and financial experts, introduced new products, rolled out a brand refresh, and made continuous improvements to its award-winning Digital Banking services. More recently, the bank became a Strategic Partner to The Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO) Austin Chapter, solidifying Broadway’s commitment to local businesses. Additionally, regional expansion will continue with the opening of a new loan production office in Round Rock this year.

“Since our launch in Austin in 2012, our growth has been phenomenal,” said Harvey Hartenstine, Chief Banking Executive. “The people in the area have truly connected to our unique brand of customer service, our outstanding products and services, and our commitment to local banking. The business community has benefitted as well—our bankers provide global expertise with local decisioning for best-in-class commercial banking. We’re pleased to bring Blake on board to continue our mission.”

Absher holds a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts from Texas State University. He serves on several boards and committees including Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas, Long Center for the Performing Arts, I Live Here I Give Here, and Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Texas.

“I couldn’t be happier to become a Broadway Banker,” said Absher. “This company has done so much to help meet the financial needs of so many Texans, and I’m excited to ensure more and more members of the Austin community, surrounding towns and neighborhoods get the same great service.”
