Hindu Charities for America (DBA EC4A, Education & Careers for America)
Hindu Charities for America/HC4A (dbs Education and Careers for America/EC4A) is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit (EIN: 27-2362869) that aims to provide educational equity to homeless individuals and those living below the poverty line.
EC4A Founder and Chairman, Harish Kotecha, fulfilled his own dreams of a good education and a successful career in this country, and from there was born the need to 'Serve Where You Live' (our motto) through education.
All our work revolves around school-age kids and youth and heads of household who are homeless, near homeless, below the poverty line, or low income--all with the shared dream of affordable education.
Headquartered in Austin, EC4A has strong outreach in Central Texas. Austin’s metro area is the country’s most economically segregated urban area based on income, education, and occupation.
As we grew over the years, we also awarded vocational scholarships to students in Austin metropolitan area including ISDs Manor, and Round Rock, and other organizations that serve different demographics.
We soon expanded our program with the help of partner nonprofits such as Capital Idea and Foundation Communities, that provide wrap-around services to help community college students transform their lives. The colleges served have included Austin Community College, Houston Community College, Dallas Community College District, and Los Angeles Community College District. Our Atlanta, GA, chapter is gearing up to serve students in homeless situations there.
We launched a pilot with African American Youth Harvest Foundation for Certification courses. We hope to expand this program so those who complete the courses are placed quickly in jobs.
