The Austin Club

Located in the heart of downtown Austin, The Austin Club stands as both a living piece of the city’s history and a vibrant center of connection today. Proudly housed within the historic Millett Opera House—originally built in 1878 by Austin pioneer Captain Charles F. Millett and designed by renowned architect Frederick E. Ruffini—the building once served as one of Texas’ most celebrated cultural landmarks, second in stature only to Galveston’s grand opera house. With its soaring limestone walls, hand-painted ceiling, and an 800-seat auditorium that once welcomed operas, political conventions, and community gatherings, it has always been a place where Austin came together.

Today, that legacy lives on in a new and meaningful way. The Austin Club has been thoughtfully reimagined as a private membership community where tradition meets modern hospitality—where business is conducted, relationships are built, and ideas are exchanged in a setting that carries both history and purpose. It is more than a club or a venue; it is a steward of Austin’s past and a platform for its future—offering members and guests a place to gather, celebrate, and belong in one of the most iconic spaces in the city.

Membership is by invitation and open to those who value connection, conversation, and community at the highest level. We welcome individuals and organizations who appreciate timeless traditions, modern hospitality, and the opportunity to be part of something enduring—where relationships matter, experiences are elevated, and the legacy continues.
