Community 5

Hardcoded data... Located on the north side of the Austin metro area along I-35, Georgetown has been one of the top five fastest growing cities in the nation the last three years. With a population growth of over 7.5% in 2015 and 5.5% in 2016, residential and commercial developers are racing to keep up. The growth of existing businesses and new businesses opening in Georgetown has spurred job growth of over 3% which is well over the national average of 1.59%.

Our City-owned utility, Georgetown Utility Systems, provides 100% renewable power to all of its customers. The City’s transition to wind and solar power reduces pollution, saves water and allows for lower rates to our electric customers. Georgetown is staying ahead of the growth with several major road improvements including the Southwest bypass and the Mays Street extension. Our towered Reliever General Aviation Airport with a 5,004-foot runway and first class FBO’s provide an alternative to Austin-Bergstrom for business and recreational flights. Georgetown Railroad, a short-line, dual-rail carrier, provides direct connections to both Union Pacific and Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroads.

A recent Target Industry and Workforce Analysis commissioned by the City of Georgetown identified more than 700,000 workers in our labor shed. The analysis also highlighted Georgetown’s strong advanced manufacturing business community and growing life sciences and healthcare sectors. Prominent, national developers have noticed this growth and are in the planning or building stages of office, retail, and flex space projects.

Georgetown businesses and citizens enjoy abundant natural resources, excellent schools, low crime, a truly synergistic community, and business-friendly government. Georgetown is a beautiful city rich with history where the growing population is committed to maintaining an excellent quality of life while supporting the success of its business community.
