As part of our annual campaign to help families fund postsecondary education, we are recruiting and training business and community volunteers to help students and parents complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the Texas State Application for Financial Aid (TASFA).

Completing one of our six available training options will prepare you to help families at any of our 40-50 events held in partnership with area school districts in the fall. Typically, each volunteer goes to 2-3 events. We encourage past volunteers to attend training to be advised on new additions to the FAFSA filing process.

We invite you to volunteer and/or share this opportunity to help families file necessary forms that can help pay for post-secondary education. Approximately 80% of FAFSA filers successfully enroll in college, but only 25% of high school seniors find the financial aid process easy to navigate.

You may RSVP for in-person or virtual volunteer training sessions here.

Please note: You do not need to be an expert on financial aid to participate, and training will teach you what you need to know to help families at area events.

Trainings are scheduled for:

  • Monday, September 12
  • Thursday, September 15
  • Wednesday, September 21
  • Thursday, September 22
  • Monday, September 26
  • Thursday, September 29

Your support will help many more area students successfully connect to funding for higher education. Thanks to our volunteers and partners, we reached a 53% FAFSA filing rate by January 14, 2022, and a new record rate of 73%, in June, for the Class of 2022. These filings yielded an estimated $200 million in federal, state, and institutional aid to help area students connect to the education they need to compete for future jobs.

Volunteering to assist students filing for financial aid makes a difference in whether students will ultimately enroll. We need your volunteer support to achieve a 55% regional FAFSA filing rate for the Q1 2023 Texas Priority Aid Deadline and to continue to break a 70% FAFSA filing rate by June 2023.
