For Christine Hickey, UFCU‘s Senior Community Impact Specialist, promoting education and upskilling programs in Austin is a top priority. Currently, they offer summer and fall internship opportunities to six partner universities (University of Texas, Texas State University, St. Edward‘s University, Austin Community College, Concordia University, and Huston-Tillotson University). This process begins by reaching out to all department leaders to determine who would like to host internships over the summer. Many summer internships extend to the fall as well.

”UCFU understands that it's important to engage with students as the heart of UFCU is with our members and community, which includes students. We believe engaging with students strengthens our community by providing opportunities that will positively impact each students' career path through experience. Our partnership allows them to educate on the day-to-day of each department. While engaging with students, UCFU supports them in finding a career that they’re passionate about.“

UFCU believes in engaging with the community and providing experiences to students that they will carry with them forever. The internship is not only beneficial for the interns, but for also UFCU. These diverse-minded individuals bring in different perspectives that allow UFCU to learn and grow as a company. UFCU continues to improve its internship program by partnering with career services from each partner school.
