“He’s a treasure”
“Truly a class act”
“Your work has been inspirational to many”
“Greatest people that I am privileged to know”
“Remarkable kind, caring, accessible, and visionary leader”

  • These are just a very small sample of all the accolades that headed Bill Stotesbery’s way as he announced his retirement as CEO & General Manager of Austin PBS (KLRU-TV), after 17 years.

Bill Stotesbery first served as the Austin Chamber Chair for the K-12 Regional Education Progress Reports ten years ago, and was already a known advocate and volunteer for education and innovation in our region. Bill also served on the Chamber’s Education Council and together with KLRU, strongly supported regional high school students in completing their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) applications over the years.

It is through his stewardship that Austin City Limits has grown to become an iconic Austin brand and an attraction for both music lovers and talent to our city, enriching Austin’s music culture. Always approachable and accessible, it would come as no surprise that Bill leaves us with a legacy of a partnership with ACC in expanding the reach of public media with a new home, The Austin Media Center, at the Highland Campus.

Bill - we wish you the very best and a heartfelt gratitude towards your longtime contributions to our Central Texas community. Thank you.
