Get money back with natural gas

More than 250,000 Austinites prefer cooking meals, heating their homes, taking hot showers, and drying clothes with natural gas. That’s because it’s fast, efficient, and friendly to your wallet.

Did you know you can get money back on natural gas appliances?

The Texas Gas Service Energy Efficiency Program, one of the first natural gas programs in the country, partners with the City of Austin and Austin Energy to offer qualifying customers and area homebuilders rebates for high-efficiency natural gas appliances and energy-saving home improvement measures.

Efficient natural gas appliances are the building blocks for long-term financial, energy, and conservation savings. For every $1 spent, customers get $1.35 in benefits. In fact, Austin households can save approximately $447* each year by using natural gas appliances for heating, cooking, and clothes drying.

From 2015 through 2019, Austin residents received more than 94,000 rebates from Texas Gas Service totaling nearly $12 million to drive emission reductions and cost-savings through efficient equipment and water conservation.

“Choosing to power your home or business with natural gas and applying for Texas Gas Service energy efficiency rebates is a smart financial decision and contributes to efforts to minimize the effects of climate change,” says Carmen Luevanos, Community Relations Manager for Texas Gas Service.

Helping the community

Annually, Texas Gas Service provides nearly $400,000 of natural gas water heaters, furnaces and stoves to low-income and elderly customers in need. In 2019, Texas Gas Service replaced 200 natural gas appliances for 129 low-income families for no charge and gave more than $200,000 in rebates for affordable housing properties.

Texas Gas Service is proud to serve Austin and help provide a better tomorrow.
