PNC Expands Austin Presence With Downtown Branch and New Offices

PNC has opened its first branch in Austin's central business district, at 327 W. 6th Street. The branch sits at the base of ATX Tower, which will also become PNC's Austin headquarters. In the coming weeks, the bank's Corporate, Commercial and Private Bank teams will move into offices on the building's 12th and 14th floors, and PNC's name appears on the tower's crown.
Steven González, PNC regional president for Austin, said the choice to build a branch in the business district was deliberate.
"It's intentional for us as a bank to be visible in this market and to be a true part of the fabric of the community," González said. "Nothing does that better than our branches."
He credits the branch teams with shaping how PNC is known locally. "The regional president may serve as the lead representative of the bank, but it is our branch teams that bring our brand to life and define how clients experience PNC," González said.
The downtown location is part of PNC's $2 billion investment in its branch network, which includes plans to add more than 300 branches and renovate 1,400 existing locations nationally. Austin is among the high-growth markets at the center of that expansion.
PNC views a physical presence as a signal that a bank intends to stay. That presence is an important part of becoming a client's primary bank rather than simply a place to complete a transaction, and the distinction can matter most to small business owners.
What happens inside a branch is changing, too. Clients still come in for everyday banking needs, but in-person conversations increasingly involve bigger financial decisions: managing a business's cash flow, buying a home, planning for retirement or deciding what to do with excess cash. PNC has trained its branch teams to support those broader conversations, while its digital tools handle many routine banking needs. That combination of in-person and digital service is central to the bank's branch strategy.
In Central Texas, the downtown Austin branch opened the same week as a new PNC location in San Antonio. PNC is opening 19 branches across the two metropolitan areas, an expansion that will also create new banking jobs in Austin.
The investment comes as business owners are looking for more coordinated financial advice. PNC Private Bank's 2026 Business Owner Wealth Insights survey found that 89% of surveyed middle-market business owners want financial advice that considers both their business and personal needs, and 88% value having a dedicated financial advisor who understands both. Only 55% currently work with an advisor on both their business and personal finances.
PNC's investment in Austin extends beyond its physical footprint. The bank supports Austin Gives, and a PNC leader serves on the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce board of directors.
"Austin is known for its live music and for giving back to the community, and PNC's commitment shows in the work we do together at the Chamber, whether through Austin Gives or service on our board," said Jeremy Martin, president and CEO of the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce.
As the branch manager put it, the goal is for clients to know they have someone in their corner, whether they're growing a business, buying a home or planning for what comes next.
