Lydian Dental celebrated the grand opening of their location in Austin. A member of the Greater Austin Chamber since June 2017, the startup offers a one-stop shop for kids, adults, and orthodontic—wrapped in a completely new approach to dentistry that doesn’t feel like dentistry at all.

Lydian Dental, which operates clinics in Phoenix and Austin opened a new clinic at 1601 S. Lamar Blvd. The location, with a giant mural featuring Austin’s tooth-brushing musical icons, is hard to miss. Currently, the facility offers pediatric, adult, dentistry, and orthodontics under one roof.

“We’re excited to be here,” said Lydian CEO, Josh Turnbull. “We’re doing dentistry differently here by making things easier and more affordable and enjoyable for our patients. So far, we’ve received an overwhelming response. We want people to come to the Lydian Dental and forget that they’re actually at the dentist. And I think that’s something everyone can get behind.”

In addition to the mural, Lydian Dental’s design and business model both stand out. While the company accepts most dental insurance, it’s also rolling out a new membership model in 2018 that will cover most dental procedures for $5 with an affordable monthly membership fee. They also launched their mobile dental clinic this year, which looks and feels more like a tiny home, where they provide a full suite of onsite services to employers across Austin.
