Following the late January announcement of Operation Austin, a coalition between Fort Hood and the Austin Chamber of Commerce, the partnership kicked-off this inaugural initiative with a job fair recruiting event at Fort Hood on February 26, 2015.

With the goal of helping soldiers find employment after leaving the Army, the Operation Austin job fair gave nearly 700 attendees the opportunity to meet with more than 60 businesses from the city. Veterans and their families were able to learn about job opportunities in a variety of companies and organizations, ranging anywhere from technology to service industries.
