The Texas Economic Development Corporation says that over the last decade, Japanese companies recorded 119 investment projects in Texas, $6.9 billion in capital investment, and 19,620 jobs created by 96 companies. Learn Japanese with JASGA to adapt to this growing job market!
JASGA is the Japan-America Society of Greater Austin, a 501©3 nonprofit that bridges the cultures and people between Japan and Central Texas. We offer a variety of opportunities for not only Texas residents, but anyone across the country, to see multiple facets of Japanese culture through our lifelong learning program. JASGA uses the Marugoto method of language teaching, first coined by the Japan Foundation. Marugoto aims to cross the cultural barrier by providing learners with situational awareness and promoting foreign culture understanding. Entirely online, our language program strives for inclusivity and accessibility; our teachers are specially skilled in making the online environment an engaging one.
Supplementing our language courses are cultural workshops, book clubs, and social events to create a well-rounded program to not only teach, but create a cultural community for learners to use their skills and broaden their horizons. While these are primarily in-person, some of our cultural workshops have online components as well. Registration for our Fall term language courses launched July 24th, and other workshops and events will be updated shortly. Check out our video at the link below, our flyer below as well, and follow us on Instagram (@jasga_austin) and LinkedIn (Japan-America Society of Greater Austin) to get involved!
