Making Healthy Easy

It’s Time Texas wins Greater Austin Business Award for transforming health in the workplace

Since 2011, It’s Time Texas has engaged millions of Texans throughout the state to live healthy lifestyles. In addition to working throughout the state to make healthy easier, the organization has steadily practiced what they preach not only outside of the office but in the workplace as well.

For example, all employee offices come complete with standing desks and yoga ball seats. The facility also has baskets of fresh fruit (not candy) around the office and if a meal is catered—you can expect it to be healthy and nutritious.

“We empower our employees to lead healthier lives and build healthier communities around them,” said Baker Harrell, Founder and CEO of It’s Time Texas. “Since we strive to be a model of health for other Texas employers, we practice what we preach and have created a culture of health within our workplace.”

That spirit of health is what won It’s Time Texas the Seton Health and Wellness Award. The accolade, a category of the Greater Austin Business Awards program, recognizes businesses that engage their employees in a healthy and well-balanced lifestyle.

It’s Time Texas also offers its employees a monthly $10 reimbursement for any health club membership, a daily Wellness Hour to be used for lunch exercise, optional 10-minute daily group walks, and a flexible work schedule. The small organization of 20 also offers employees monthly “Lunch ‘N’ Learn” seminars on topic such as posture, breathing, and stress relief.
