Inside the Capitol with Comptroller Glenn Hegar
Posted on 02/02/2021 by Amanda Gutman

On January 29th, we were joined for a special Pulse on Policy conversation with Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar, who monitors Texas' financial health to ensure it maintains strong fund balances.
At the beginning of each regular session of the Texas Legislature, the Texas Constitution requires the Comptroller of Public Accounts to submit a statement showing the state’s financial condition and estimating the revenue it can expect to receive during the next two-year budget period. In this webinar, the Comptroller updated us on the Biennial Revenue Estimate (BRE).

Accenture's Tamara Fields chatted with the Comptroller on topics like the vaccine distribution's affect on the economy, whether or not Texas will need to tap into the rainy day fund, and what sectors have been hardest hit by the pandemic. The Comptroller reminded everyone that his website has up-to-date resources, including the Fiscal Notes newsletter.
