Improving Regional Mobility Together Recap

Posted on 10/09/2019 by Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce

On October 7, 2019, more than 400 people attended our annual transportation summit at the JW Marriott in Austin. This year, the focus was on improving regional mobility by working together.

Chamber Board Chair Brian Cassidy got us underway with a state of transportation address. His goals for the day was for attendees to: 1. Get solidly behind a fix for I 35; 2. Have a better understanding of the essential component of our region’s transportation system and what they have planned for the immediate future; and 3. Know where our region's elected leaders stand and what they need to improve our regional mobility together.

As we heard from State Senator Kirk Watson, Mayor Steve Adler, Austin-Bergstrom International Airport Executive Director Jacqueline Yaft, CapMetro CEO Randy Clark, Ford Autonomous Vehicles Market Manager Kathleen Baireuther, CTRMA's Bobby Jenkins and Mike Heiligenstein, and many others, it became clear that we have leadership, vision, and innovative capabilities to find long lasting solutions to our region's mobility challenges.
