After nearly three years without open-to-the-public HAAM Day concerts, HAAM Day returned with a live and in-person event on September 13.

The Health Alliance for Austin Musicians’ (HAAM) provides access to affordable healthcare for greater Austin’s low-income, working musicians, with a focus on prevention and wellness. Many Austin musicians are self-employed and have no access to health insurance or basic healthcare. Not only are our musicians an essential part of Austin’s cultural identity as a city, but also an important economic engine, drawing in more than $2 billion dollars each year.

In 2005, Robin Shivers founded HAAM to address the previously unmet healthcare needs of low-income working Austin musicians. The organization was designed to leverage collaborations across community resources and between its musicians, healthcare providers, and the Austin community. These crucial partnerships are what makes HAAM Day so successful and such an important event across town.

HAAM has helped 6,500 musicians across seven counties access over $123 million in healthcare services since we began in 2005. Services include routine dental work, doctor visits and prescriptions, psychiatric counseling sessions, eye exams, out-patient procedures, specialist referrals, hearing screenings, basic needs assistance and more.

HAAM, PNC Bank and all HAAM Day sponsors welcomed front-line workers for free food, free drinks and great live music from HAAM member artists performing on the amphitheater stage.

The HAAM Day line-up at Moody Amphitheater at Waterloo Park included:

• 6 am - 11 am: Lesly Reynaga (solo), Bob Appel, Dawn & Hawkes, Jon Dee Graham, San Gabriel
• 11 am - 4 pm: The Waterloo Beat, DJ Shani, D-Madness, Andrew Cashen, Beat Root Revival
• 4 pm - 10 pm: West Texas Exiles, Lesly Reynaga (full band), Kings of the Night Time World, BLACKILLAC, Bob Schneider

In May, PNC Bank announced it committed to a partnership with HAAM, and today’s announcement of the bank as presenting sponsor of HAAM Day 2022 levels up that commitment.

As part of its HAAM Day sponsorship, PNC Bank also hosted live music at branches throughout Central Texas.

PNC Bank has made strides in becoming known as the bank of music in the Austin community, starting in October 2021 when the bank announced it had become the official bank of ACL Live and Austin City Limits. PNC is also the Austin Chamber of Commerce’s exclusive live music partner, allowing it to continue supporting local artists by providing live musical entertainment at all in-person chamber events throughout the year. The bank also formed a new residency program that showcases a different local musician each month exclusively at PNC Plaza at ACL Live.
