Gov. Greg Abbott today issued an Executive Order that allows “exceptions for essential activities and services based on the Department of Homeland Security’s guidelines on the Essential Critical Infrastructure Workforce. Examples of these essential services include healthcare, grocery stores, banking and financial services, utilities, child care for essential service employees, and government services.”

This Executive Order does not override stricter rules implemented by cities or counties if they do not conflict with the Order.

CISA guidelines explicitly include workers performing housing construction related activities as essential critical infrastructure workers. CISA guidelines also include provisions related to commercial construction supporting essential infrastructure. Please review the guidelines closely to determine how your business operations may be affected.
