Delta Airlines just made it easier for global travelers to experience Central Texas. Delta Airlines announced four nonstop round trip flights between Amsterdam’s Airport Schiphol (AMS) and the Austin Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) during SXSW.

“Delta’s AUS-AMS flights will make it even easier for global customers to experience SXSW, which last year saw 400,000+ attendees at this convergence of music, interactive, and film industries,” Jim Smith, Executive Director of the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, said in a statement.

The flight will operate March 8, 9, 14, and 18, 2018. Flights on March 8 and 9 will depart from the Airport Schiphol Airport at 10:05 a.m. and arrive at the ABIA at 3 p.m. Return flights will depart at 5:43 p.m. and arrive in Amsterdam at 10:50 a.m. the following day. Flights on March 14 and 18 will depart the Airport Schipol at 10:05 a.m. and arrive in Austin at 4:00 p.m. due to Daylight Savings Time. Return flights will depart the ABIA at 6:43 p.m. and arrive at 10:50 a.m. the following day.

To book your flight, visit Delta’s website or call 1-800-221-1212. International travelers can book their flight with their respective travel agent or call +31 (0)20 721 9128. Fares start at $1,400 round trip.

All flights will be operated using the Boeing 767-300 aircraft with 225 seats, which will enable nearly 1,000 fans to fly nonstop to attend the 2018 SXSW festival.

“Delta’s announcement that they will offer direct flights between Austin and Amsterdam during SXSW 2018 is a major victory for the Central Texas region,” Doug Driskill, Chairman of the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce Air Services Task Force, said in a statement. “These four round-trip flights will serve as an additional gateway into Austin for employers, entrepreneurs, and influencers from Europe during SXSW and provide greater exposure for all that our region offers. We encourage Austin-based employers to take advantage of this opportunity to showcase their businesses to those who will be travelling to Austin, and to deepen engagement with this critical European market.”

The Air Service Task Force, which began as part of the Chamber’s Opportunity Austin initiative, works with ABIA to increase the number of direct US and international flights to Central Texas. The next task force meeting will be held Wednesday, September 27 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Austin Chamber of Commerce boardroom.
