Congressman Williams briefs Chamber members on economic policy, taxes and the military

The Austin Chamber provides members with several opportunities to engage with federal elected officials. Most recently, United States Congressman Roger Williams visited the Chamber for a morning roundtable with business leaders throughout our community.

Williams provided a D.C. update and reiterated that America needs to be “strong militarily, economically and socially.”

He spoke about economic policy, his tax plan and the military, such as his work with Fort Hood. As a side note, the Chamber plans to host its second Operation Austin career fair on October 18 at Fort Hood. The initiative provides many local businesses with the opportunity to meet with hundreds of exiting soldiers and their families on job opportunities in Central Texas.

Williams also discussed Jumpstart America, his tax reform package designed to cash flow Main Street American businesses and put people back to work. On the topic of education, the congressman noted that 100,000 kids are dropping out in 9th grade because they are losing hope. “This is why community causes are so important,” said Williams.

Williams represents the 25th congressional district of Texas which stretches from Tarrant County in the north to Hays County in the south. It includes much of the Texas Hill Country and Austin.
