Austin needs to stay relevant and invest in education technology companies

U.S. Ed-Tech Companies Raise $474 Million in November: According to analysis by EdSurge, the U.S. Ed-Tech market brought in $474 million in November 2015. The funding was spread across 21 deals, with at least 54 unique investors participating; leading deals included HotChalk’s for $230 million and Udacity raised $105 million. Varsity Tutors and Schoology were other notable deals, bringing in $50 and $32 million respectively during the month of November.
Together, the Ed-Tech industry is worth more than $8 billion. Austin is home to several Ed-Tech companies such as Civitas Learning, Querium, and OneLogos, but it needs to keep pace in order to be considered an innovator in the field.
