It’s Back! ACL Social Media Contest opens to help kids prepare for college

Going to college can be exciting, but also stressful and expensive. So it’s important to take the time to file your FAFSA early to qualify for most need or merit-based aid.

That’s why the Austin Chamber in partnership with C3 Presents and the Austin City Limits (ACL) Music Festival, launched College Insight, a program designed to help students and families file for 2017-2018 Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The free program offers assistance to thousands of local high school students to apply for financial aid—both federal and state applications—to help them transition directly from high school to college.

The fourth annual ACL Financial Aid Social Media Contest is now open to help encourage early FAFSA enrollment and promote registration for 25 free Financial Aid Saturday events held at local high school campuses. Seniors, designated as campus student leaders, are eligible to win passes to the 2017 ACL Music Fest for themselves and classmates. This is solely based on the share of students in the senior class that register for FAFSA events through CollegeInsight.com and share tweets from their campus encouraging FAFSA completion and event registration.

Students’ tweets that generate the most sign-ups for FAFSA enrollments, favorites, and re-tweets from their campus colleagues, will win four passes to the first or second weekend of the ACL Music Festival. Winners will also receive an exclusive backstage tour of the ACL Grounds and photos of the event will be featured on the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce blog and social media accounts.

Passes will be given by random selection to registrants for weekend 1 to help encourage activity leading up to weekend two and the backstage tour for student leaders. All student leaders must register for the exclusive backstage tour by October 10.

Winners will be selected Thursday, October 5 for the first ACL weekend and Thursday, October 12 for the second ACL weekend.
