On January 8, the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization’s (CAMPO) Transportation Policy Board reappointed Will Conley as Chairman for another term. Conley will serve for an additional two years—a total of six years on the board.

The Austin Chamber supported this decision and the business community believes that Conley should remain as Chair. The Transportation Policy Board voted in a 15-1 vote with two abstentions.

Drew Scheberle, Senior Vice President of Federal and State Advocacy of the Austin Chamber, urged CAMPO board members to reappoint Chairman Conley.

“Chairman Conley’s record of innovative leadership for CAMPO speaks for itself,” said Scheberle. “As Chairman, Conley has led the fight to prioritize Proposition 1 funding for I-35—an important legislative accomplishment that cannot be understated. As the Austin region looks towards solving the puzzle that is I-35, Chairman Conley’s excellent working relationships with our state leaders are of paramount importance. He has the support of all regions within CAMPO as evidenced by the unanimous recommendation of the Nominating Committee to keep him for another term.”

Under Conley’s leadership, CAMPO approved its first active transportation plan last year, which has helped lay out a vision of what regional transportation will look like over the coming decades. The recent approval of the Project Selection Criteria is another monumental step to planning transportation projects for our region.
