Austin-based ROKA opens pop-up shop

Posted on 03/19/2019 by Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce

ROKA, the Austin brand revolutionizing direct-to-consumer eyewear, opened its first pop-up store on March 8 at 408 W. 2nd Street. ROKA joined the Greater Austin Chamber in September 2018.

The first-of-its-kind retail space will give all of Austin a chance to experience the award-winning ultralight eyewear that has made ROKA one of the city’s fastest-growing brands. ROKA’s styles include the world’s first Performance Aviators to the sport-specific Advanced Performance optics and the all-new Austin Collection prescription eyeglasses.

“As a brand born at Barton Springs here in Austin, there was no other place we sought out to open our first pop-up store,” says ROKA CEO and Co-founder Rob Canales. “We’ve been selling online and through select retailers for years, and we’re excited to test the pop-up format as a new way to reach customers.”

Founded in Austin in 2011 during a late-night design session between two former Stanford All-American swimmers, ROKA has grown into one of the city’s hottest brands.

ROKA’s newest line of prescription eyeglasses, the Austin Collection, was inspired by the athletes, entrepreneurs, adventurers and innovators that call Austin home. All styles of ROKA eyewear—including customizable sunglasses—are available to try on and purchase in-store.

The pop-up will be open March 8 through April 30. For more information, visit https://www.roka.com/pages/austin-pop-up-shop.
