Posted on 06/07/2017 by Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce

Name:
Rene Campos

Years as Chamber Ambassador:
Nearly 20 years

Company:
Market Mail Print, Sales Manager

Resounding Words:
"The most important way you can grow your business is new business."

Why are you an ambassador?
I found out a long time ago that being an ambassador is a great way to meet business owners that I wouldn’t have the opportunity to meet otherwise.

Describe your most memorable experience while serving as an ambassador?
It’s hard to just describe one, but I remember doing a ribbon cutting for a new member of the Austin Chamber of Commerce, becoming friends with the owner, and continuing the relationship for over 10 years.

Who was the owner and what is the name of the company?
Chad Beardslee with Market Mail Print; that’s where I work today and how I got the job.

What’s the best part of being an ambassador?
The opportunity to meet business owners; there is no way I would meet them otherwise.

How would you persuade someone to become an ambassador?
If you are in sales and want to grow your business, the most important way you can grow your business is new business. What better way to grow your business than to meet business owners on an ongoing basis in a more casual situation.

What’s something interesting most people wouldn’t know about you?
I am a born and raised Austinite which is very unique, and I have 22-year-old twin boys. They both have cerebral palsy.

What’s the best way to start the day?
(Chuckles) Early and a cup of coffee.

In 2015, the Chamber recognized Campos as Volunteer of the Year for his active engagement and promotion of city council district town halls and forums. His consistent presence led up to the election of the first 10-1 city council. The Ambassador Committee meets monthly. If you are interested in participating, contact Melanee Ferrier.
