This year, we stepped up our giveback program and introduced A+ Gives Day – a day for employees to volunteer and serve their communities! On October 10, 2022, every A+FCU team member volunteered their time to support our mission of building stronger communities. We’re thankful for the meaningful work our partners do and we want to do our part to support them as they continue to help others.
On this day of giving, more than 470 team members volunteered over 2,000 hours at 18 community partners, 22 Austin ISD schools, and 25 additional community organizations throughout Texas and across the nation. We’re thankful we could come together as a community to support one another.

Austin ISD
A+FCU was formed by teachers and we’re committed to serving them the best we can. Team A+ joined 22 Austin ISD schools to help in libraries, in cafeterias, and on school grounds. As a financial institution, we work hard to help educators outside of the classroom, and being able to help support their campus was just as impactful. Our mascot, AJ, even made an appearance to hang out and have a dance off with the children!
We’re honored by the positive responses received for the contributions our team did throughout A+ Gives Day. David Torres, Austin ISD Mentor Coordinator, shared his thoughts on A+ Gives Day, "Thank you all for your time at our AISD campuses. You all worked hard in different capacities to better our students and campus environments."

Community Outreach Programs
Team A+ connected with organizations across Central Texas to serve our neighbors in need. Our partners for A+ Gives Day included the Austin Diaper Bank, Austin Habitat for Humanity, Caritas of Austin, We Are Blood, Children’s Advocacy Center Serving Bastrop, Lee, and Fayette Counties, Keep San Marcos Beautiful, and The Caring Place. These organizations work endlessly to provide for our community and we’re proud to play a part in supporting them as they support others.
Food Insecurity
Approximately 15% of Austin’s population are classified as experiencing food insecurity and are without consistent access to healthy food. We partnered with Backpack Friends, Bastrop County Emergency Food Pantry, Central Texas Food Bank, Hays Hope2Go, HopeAustin, and School Fuel to support their missions in the fight against hunger. From serving students to adults across Central Texas, A+ Gives Day gave us a chance to magnify their impact.
Animal Needs
We didn’t forget about our furry friends! Volunteers helped at the Austin Animal Center, Texas Humane Heroes, and The Dog Alliance with a variety of tasks that included cleaning, walking animals, and even a bit of training. Thanks to these organizations, animals have the opportunity to find new homes and improve the lives of our neighbors.

Non-Local Organizations
The A+FCU team stretches further than just Central Texas. With team members spread throughout Texas and across the country, A+ Gives Day was a nationwide event. Volunteers set out to work with food banks, animal centers, schools, and other outreach organizations to support our mission of building stronger communities.

Member Giveback
A+ Gives Day also gave our members the opportunity to give back! When members used their Cash-Back Checking debit card to make purchases on October 10, we matched each cash-back reward (up to 10 cents per debit card use) to give back to the community. Thanks to our members, A+FCU was able to donate $10,000 to four organizations we worked with on A+ Gives Day.

We’re proud to announce the Children’s Advocacy Center Serving Bastrop, Lee, and Fayette Counties; We Are Blood; School Fuel; and the Austin Diaper Bank as the donation recipients. Each organization received $2,500 to use towards improving our Central Texas communities.
