A celebration of community at the Chamber's Annual Meeting

On February 5th, the business community came together for our Annual Meeting at the JW Marriott to celebrate the Austinite of the Year and Volunteers of the Year, look back on our 2019 accomplishments, and learn about the Chamber's priorities for 2020.

Attendees were welcomed by 2019 Board Chair, Brian Cassidy, and 2020 Board Chair, Craig Enoch.

  • Brian Cassidy

    2019 Board Chair, Austin Chamber
    Managing Partner, Locke Lord LLP

  • Craig Enoch

    2020 Board Chair, Austin Chamber
    Founding Member, Enoch Kever PLLC

  • As Brian Cassidy reflected on 2019, he highlighted that the Chamber helped create 37,800 jobs and added $2.3 billion to payrolls as well as companies like SmileDirectClub, Amazon, HEB, Zoho, Arrive Logistics, and many others that brought new operations or expanded existing operations in our region during 2019.

These and other updates on economic development, the 86th Texas Legislature, mobility, and more can be found in the Chamber's 2019 Annual Report.

The Chamber recognized our 2019 Volunteers of the Year - those committee and council members who went above and beyond in helping the Chamber deliver on its mission.

We also had the privilege of honoring the 2019 Austinite of the Year, Jesús Garza, who has been a community and civic leader in Austin—and the state—for decades. There were few dry eyes in the room as we watched the video of community members recall how Jesús has personally made Austin a better place to live.

In recognition of the service and leadership Jesús has provided over the years, Mayor Steve Adler proclaimed February 5, 2020 as Jesús Garza Day.

  • In his look ahead to 2020, Board Chair Craig Enoch keyed in our top priorities of completing ATX Helps, engaging with the city on Project Connect, the continued success of the Army Futures Command, maintaining a prosperous regional economy, and promoting voter education in local elections.

He also encouraged everyone to get more engaged with the Austin Chamber. And if our mission isn't compelling on its own, our members also have the opportunity to sport Judge Enoch's favorite socks!

As always, thank you to our sponsors!
