Recognizing the challenges teachers face — often reaching into their own pockets to provide classroom materials, innovative learning tools, and invaluable educational experiences — A+ Federal Credit Union (A+FCU) established the A+ Education Foundation, its philanthropic arm, in 2005 with a clear purpose: to support educators who dedicate their lives to shaping the next generation.

Since its inception, the foundation has made substantial investments in local schools, made possible by membership dues and generous donations. Thus far, the A+ Education Foundation:

• Has awarded nearly $1.5 million in grants

• Sponsored over 1,400 educator-led projects that might otherwise go unfunded

• Supported more than 50 partner schools and school districts

These grants empower teachers to seek professional development and bring new ideas to life, whether it’s launching a robotics or bee-keeping program, creating engaging multilingual literacy centers, or introducing innovative STEAM activities that inspire creativity, curiosity, and critical thinking.

Each grant awarded by the A+ Education Foundation represents far more than just financial support — it also serves as a powerful message of encouragement and recognition for educators who consistently go above and beyond to help their students succeed.

Michelle R., a 2025 grant recipient states, “When children are given the freedom to move, explore, and engage with hands-on tools in a space that supports their needs, learning becomes not just possible — but joyful and meaningful.”

What began as a commitment to supporting educators has grown into a significant and meaningful investment in building stronger communities. By empowering and uplifting educators, the foundation contributes to ensuring that students have access to enriched learning environments — settings that inspire, engage, and prepare them for the challenges and opportunities of the future.

As our communities continue to grow and evolve, the A+ Education Foundation remains committed to investing in educators, strengthening classrooms and schools, empowering students, and building a better and brighter future for Central Texas.

Currently, professionally certified educators can apply for grants of up to $1,500 to support new or ongoing programs. Applicants must be or become an A+FCU member and be employed at a school within the A+FCU field of membership. The application is available through May 31, 2026 on the A+FCU grants program webpage.
