Advanced Technologies Today for a Healthier Tomorrow
Collaboration between Greater Austin's research facilities and educational institutions provides bench-to-bedside research and training, leading to solutions for today's health issues. Currently, there are more than 160 companies with over 8,200 employees operating in the areas of Biotech, Diagnostics, Medical Device, CRO/IRB, Pharma, Biosecurity, and Agribio, among others. We're in good company: The State of Texas is one of the leading biotech states in the country, with 3,400 companies and an estimated economic impact of $75 billion.
As relatively young industries in Austin, life science and biotechnology companies enjoy unique successes. In fact, BMI Insights project the greatest growth in the life sciences will be in the areas of biologics/biotech and medical device/diagnostics; and through a mix of strategic relocations and continued support for our existing industry, Austin's growth mirrors these areas. Our community is currently comprised of:

BioAustin, formed under the auspices of the Austin Chamber of Commerce, is an all-encompassing umbrella for the life sciences in the five-county Austin region. BioAustin provides a variety of networking opportunities including the highly popular BioBash.
The Austin Chamber and its Central Texas partners work to develop the key growth industries for our region: Clean Energy & Power Technology, Data Centers, Life Sciences & Biotechnology, and Multimedia Technology.
