Pflugerville
Pflugerville is one of the fastest growing areas in Central Texas, offering a unique community with an educated and varied workforce. The city, which is situated about 15 miles north of Downtown Austin, was settled in the mid 19th century by German immigrants. The city was incorporated in 1965.
For the first 20 years in the life of the young city, Pflugerville experienced low to moderate growth. Suburban Austin growth in the mid-eighties caused a building boom in Pflugerville. Since 1985, Pflugerville has grown from less than 900 to nearly 43,000 residents who have made it home for their families.
Many of them work in the nearby high-tech centers, such as Dell, Samsung, IBM, Freescale, Applied Materials, Austin Semiconducter, and Advanced Micro Devices.
With the recent completion of major new highways, SH-130 and SH-45, population is projected to grow 30 to 40 percent over the next five to 10 years, and more than 100,000 by 2025.
Convenience and high quality of life
Pflugerville is strategically located between Austin and Round Rock, a choice location that offers access to Austin business, commerce and culture, with a very reasonable commute. Once you are home, there is lots to enjoy, including several high quality golf courses and numerous parks.
Economic development
The economic development arm of the City of Pflugerville, PCDC is a Texas 4B economic development corporation whose principal mission is to encourage and promote economic development, diversifying the local tax base through retail, commercial and industrial development.
Pflugerville's Texas 4B Corporation collects and manages a one half cent sales tax within the city limits and uses those funds for staffing, marketing, economic and community development projects and grants.
Pflugerville is actively seeking: jobs, retail tax base and commercial tax base. Pflugerville is seeking downtown commercial development, anchor and neighborhood shopping centers, multi-story office centers, restaurants, family entertainment complexes, business and technology parks and campus centers as well as, light manufacturing and distribution centers.
The City of Pflugerville is willing to consider private public partnerships, tax incentives, and creative financing incentives for qualified projects that meet community development standards, aesthetics, and objectives. Incentives will be considered on an individual project basis.
