Leander
Leander is located 26 miles north-northwest of downtown Austin and ten miles due west of Interstate 35 on US 183. The community has grown 21.9% annually over the past several years and is now home to 18,000 residents. The proposed Leander Transit Oriented Development (TOD) is being planned for 30,000 residents with access to CapMetro’s commuter rail and the US 183A toll road. This transportation system will enable residents and visitors to move throughout the community and region more efficiently.
The Leander Independent School District is the fastest growing district in Texas. Three high schools, five middle schools and fourteen elementary schools accommodate the 20,000 students served in Leander, Cedar Park, Jonestown and parts of Northwest Austin. Business and residential growth have led the district to build approximately 1.5 schools annually over the past ten years.
Almost sixty primary employers representing 35 North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) codes call Leander home. The businesses employ roughly 1,700 people and occupy over 675,000 square feet of industrial/light industrial space. From floriculture to defense contracting, Leander’s business diversity is a real asset.
Our regional participation in business development, transportation improvements and overall quality of life invite residents and visitors to become part of Leander’s future. Leander’s proximity to the Texas Hill Country and Lake District combined with its location, transportation and labor force resources offer numerous competitive advantages to grow business.
