Austin Chamber Chairman Clarke Heidrick, J.D., to Speak on Healthcare Panel presented by the League of Women Voters

The Austin Area League of Women Voters is hosting a public forum about the health issues facing our community. Join the AALWV for the latest and most comprehensive information about the past, present and future of healthcare in Travis County. Bring a friend to hear about this important topic and learn more about the League on Sunday, September 16, from 2 – 4 pm at Trinity United Methodist Church.

Panelists will discuss everything from the formation of Central Health, to the role of non- profits and other clinics, to our present tax system, and the request for more funding. Written questions will be answered as time allows.

Mary Ann Roser, Austin American-Statesman health reporter, will moderate the discussion. Panelists include Regina Rogoff, J.D., CEO of Peoples Community Clinic and Clarke Heidrick, J.D., Central Health board member and Chair of the Board of the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce.

About the Speakers:

Mary Ann Roser worked for newspapers in Kentucky and in Washington, D. C., before moving to Austin. She joined the Statesman staff in 1996 and began covering health and medical issues in 2000. She has the unique ability to translate political and medical information into articles the public can understand.

Regina Rogoff was Executive Director of the Legal Aid of Central Texas for 20 years and began her career as a Vista lawyer. She is a former Chair of Austin Interfaith and One Voice Central Texas. She became CEO of Peoples Community Clinic in 2003.

Clarke Heidrick has been an attorney since 1977 and has served as chair of many local organizations. Also, he was chair of the initial Board of Managers for Central Health and was the force behind the establishment of the Travis County Healthcare District in 2004.
